A Chanced Encounter
Our Story
Ekole Fonjungo was born and raised in Tiko, in the South West province of Cameroon, where he completed his early education. He discovered a profound passion for design early on during a transformative at-home year after graduating high school, self-learning fashion design sketching, leading to many sketches. This passion intensified after leaving Cameroon to continue his education abroad. Using the ample free time he had while out of school, he immersed himself even further into design sketching, eventually creating many designs that he would later bring to life.

While attending Medical School in St. Lucia, he found himself even more increasingly drawn to his creativity, spending time during classes and labs coming up with and sketching designs. Despite excelling academically, his dream of becoming a physician was hindered by immigration obstacles.

Ultimately, he followed his creative passion for design, enrolling in Baltimore's school of Fashion Design while also enrolled in Nursing School, spending his time going back and forth between clinicals at hospitals and sewing practical/classes at design school. It was at fashion design school where he found his true passion and honed his skills in Fashion Art, Apparel technology, Patternmaking and Tailoring; where he constructed his first Suit (Full Canvass), Sports Jacket, Pant and Shirt. These skills were further enhanced through seminars at NYC's Fashion Insitute of Technology (FIT) as well as sartorial trainings in Naples, Italy; thus, blending his diverse experiences into a unique design perspective.

After graduating from fashion design school in 2014, he took some time off to develop the business while traveling the world for inspiration before finally launching Sartoria Haúse from Men-In-Suits in 2018, the business that he had started 9 years earlier during a chanced encounter at a courthouse in Washington, DC.

He is a member of The Custom Tailors & Designers Association (CTDA), a New York City based association of true Bench Tailors, Custom Clothiers, Retailers and the oldest continuously operating trade organization in the United States.
In an ever changing and competitive world of fashion, Ekole stays up to date with current techniques, traditions and trends in menswear through routine attendance in some of the world's top menswear and fashion events such as Piti Uomo (Firenze), MICAM (Milano), Milan Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week, Chicago Collective (Chicago), New York fashion week and CTDA (New York City).
