Ekole Fonjungo was born and raised in Tiko, in the South West province of Cameroon, where he completed his early primary education. He then attended St. Joseph's College, Sasse, for his secondary and high school studies. After graduating, a transformative year at home sparked his deep passion for design. During this time, he taught himself fashion design sketching, producing numerous original designs. This passion grew even stronger when he moved abroad to further his education.

With ample free time while out of school, Ekole immersed himself even further in design sketching, developing a portfolio of creations he would later bring to life.

While attending medical school in the Caribbean, Ekole found himself increasingly drawn to his creative pursuits. He often sketched new designs during classes and labs, despite his professors' disapproval. Although he excelled academically, his aspiration to become a physician was ultimately hindered by immigration challenges.

 

 

Ultimately, he pursued his creative passion for design by enrolling in Baltimore City College School of Fashion Design, while simultaneously attending Howard College School of Nursing. He spent countless days commuting between Baltimore and Columbia, balancing classes at both campuses, transitioning from hospital clinicals to hands-on workshops at the Design School.

 

At Design School, he honed his skills in menswear, apparel technology, fashion art, patternmaking, and tailoring, constructing his first full-canvas suit, sports jacket, pants, and shirt. He further enhanced his expertise through additional courses and workshops at New York's FIT, as well as sartorial training in Italy, blending these diverse experiences into a distinctive design perspective.

 

After graduating from Fashion Design School in 2014, Ekole spent time developing his business and traveling the world for inspiration. In 2016, he launched Sartoria Haúse from Men-In-Suits, a venture he had originally started nine years earlier following a chance encounter at a courthouse in Washington, DC.

Ekole is an active member of several professional associations for designers, true bench tailors, custom clothiers, and retailers.

In the ever-evolving and competitive world of fashion, he stays current with the latest techniques, traditions, and trends in menswear by attending some of the world's leading menswear and fashion events in the US and Europe multiple times a year.

​

Though he calls Tiko home, Ekole currently resides in Baltimore City, Maryland.
